The unit provides a calm and welcoming environment for patients and relatives
supported by a multidisciplinary team who are available to help you through your cancer journey. This includes consultants, specialist nurses,
pharmacists and trained volunteers.
In the reception area you can find an abundance of
information regarding all the different types of conditions and
treatments along with fresh coffee and
biscuits. The reception area is divided into two areas.

There is one area where you can have a coffee and relax on soft comfortable sofas.

In the other area you will find leaflets, booklets, videos, support group information and internet access. Staff are usually available to help you find the information you require.

The counselling room is a quiet, calm and relaxing room where you can sit and
talk with your nurse or doctor about your diagnosis or treatment options.

The examination room can be used when any procedure is required or you need
to be examined by a doctor or nurse.

Patients receive their chemotherapy in the treatment area. It is a relaxing room
where several patients can receive their treatment together. This enables
patients to meet and get to know each other. There is also a small patio area
that can be used when the weather is good.

Staff in the unit work very closely with several other support services and
departments to help provide a multidisciplinary service for patients.
The
Macmillan Cancer Information and Support Centre is available to all patients
attending the oncology unit and information can be given regarding the services
they provide. We have two relaxation therapists available to provide support and
relaxation during your treatment.
