Edinburgh

The Macmillan Information and Support ‘drop in’ Centre, based at the Western General hospital, Edinburgh, offers a wide range of information on all aspects of cancer to anyone affected by cancer. The service is staffed by an experienced Macmillan health professional and trained, dedicated volunteers.

The centre welcomes all visitors and provides:

  • Emotional and practical support, as well as time to talk in a quiet calming environment
  • A friendly face and someone to listen
  • Information and support from specialist staff to anyone affected by cancer
  • Confidential benefits and money advice by specialist Macmillan welfare rights staff
  • Complementary therapy treatments
  • Guided internet access & links to support groups and other services including: bereavement support and counselling
  • A wide range of information available in booklets/leaflets, CD, audio, brail, supporting people with learning difficulties and various languages
  • Free access to hot & cold beverages

The centre is located in the Western General Hospital, South Corridor, Crewe Road, Edinburgh, EH4 2XU. The Centre's opening hours are Monday – Friday: 10am – 4pm and late night opening every Thursday evening until 7.30pm

The Westerhaven Macmillan Cancer Information and Support Centre, Westerhaven, offers support and information to anyone who has cancer and lives in South-West Edinburgh, their relatives, friends and carers.

With access to:

  • information service
  • complementary therapies
  • counselling
  • benefits advice
  • drop-in service

The centre is located at Westerhaven, 1 Hailesland Road, Edinburgh, EH14 2QS and is open on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday between 10.00am and 3.00pm.

Maggie's Centre, Edinburgh is for anyone affected by cancer. It is a place where people are welcome whenever they need support – from just being diagnosed, or undergoing treatment, to post-treatment, recurrence, end of life or in bereavement.

Family and friends are welcome, as they are often deeply affected by cancer too and can feel just as frightened, vulnerable and uncertain.

The centre is open all day Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm and some evenings, so drop in at any time if you want to have a cup of tea and a chat, if you want to learn more about your cancer, or if you just want a quiet somewhere to sit down. There are many services on offer and a timetable of events can be found on the website.

FAIR (the Family and Advice and Information Resource) is an information and advice service for people with learning disabilities, parents, carers and people who work with them in Edinburgh.  FAIR produces a range of health materials specifically designed for people with learning disabilities, including information about cancer.

You will find us at  95 Causewayside, Edinburgh, EH9 1QG. You can drop in from Tuesday to Friday, but it's best to make an appointment first.

The Minority Ethnic Carers of People Project (MECOPP) provides advice and support for black and minority ethnic carers living in Edinburgh and the Lothians.

The MECOPP Carers Centre is at 172 Leith Walk,
Edinburgh EH6 5EA. The centre is open Monday to Thursday - 9.15am to 5pm Friday - 9.15am to 4pm.

Livingston

The Macmillan Cancer Information  and Support  Centre is in St. John’s Hospital, Livingston. The centre operates five days per week from 8.30 am to 4.30 pm and offers:

  • Specialist palliative day care
  • Outpatient appointments
  • Carer support
 

The centre is located on the lower ground floor of St john's Hospital, Howden Road West, Howden, Livingston EH54 6PP.
