Primary Care

The group purpose is to promote the highest standard of cancer care across the region with particular focus on the primary care element of the patient journey. This covers areas such as prevention, screening and treatment through to follow up. The group also aims to promote effective lines of communication between secondary and primary care through ensuring that primary care representation is included within all of the SCAN Tumour Specific Groups.

SCAN Pharmacy Group

The SCAN Pharmacy Group brings together Pharmacists involved in Cancer Services across the SCAN region to support the safe, patient-centred, efficient and cost-effective use of SACT therapies across SCAN boards. The priorities of the group are to: 

  • Work collaboratively to support the introduction of new SACT therapies and contribute to prescribing efficiencies and savings.  
  • Consider and mitigate risks in Pharmacy service delivery across SCAN. 
  • Standardise practise of service delivery across SCAN. 
  • Provide a regional communication forum for Pharmacy services. 

The group reports to the SCAN Regional SACT Advisory Group and the Regional Cancer Planning Group through the SCAN Pharmacy Lead.

SACT Nurses Group

The SCAN Systemic Anti Cancer Therapy (SACT) Senior Nurses Group is a collaborative group of senior/lead nurses whose role is principally in the operational delivery of  SACT from the four health boards in the South East of Scotland.

The purpose of the group is to identify, support and develop the nursing contribution to SACT service delivery throughout the South East Scotland Region.

The group acts as a reference and nursing consultation group for SACT within the SCAN network and aims to contribute to and facilitate the implementation of the local, regional and national SACT agenda through professional debate and collaboration.
